How to Host an Earth Day Wine Tasting Celebration

Earth Day Wine Tasting Celebration

On April 22, millions of people around the globe will celebrate Earth Day, including us here at Natura. While we always love a reason to celebrate, we can’t think of anything better to cheers to than our beautiful planet. Below are some tips for hosting a meaningful, fun gathering this Earth Day (and yes, it involves organic wine)!

Let your Earth Day celebration start by filling your wine glasses with something green—and we’re not talking kale and celery smoothies here. Invite your friends over for a wine tasting, where they can eat, mingle, and sample different varietals of Natura- all of which are made from 100% organic grapes.

Prepare a menu of snacks consisting of locally produced foods that are healthy and have minimal impact on the environment. Pairing your wines with fresh vegetables from a local farmer’s market uses less resources than meat or anything mass produced, and it’s more simple than you may think. Check out some veggies that pair well with Natura here, and for a sweet treat, try our recipes for almond butter chocolate chip cookies and gluten-free flourless black bean brownies.

As your guests arrive, ask them to leave their cell phones at the door. Turn off the lights, television and air conditioner, and light some candles and open the windows. Or if the weather is nice, hold your tasting outdoors in the backyard, or at a park. Unplugging will give you and your guests a chance to unwind, catch up, and enjoy each other’s company. We also recommend brightening up your party space with fresh flowers- what better way to remind everyone how important it is to be good to our environment than to surround yourselves with the beautiful things it has to offer!

One way to spice up your wine tasting would be to have your friends sample different varietals while blindfolded. They can try to identify the varietals by smelling the aromas, and experiencing the different tastes and textures on their palates. This can even be turned into a game, where the person with the most correct guesses wins!

Either way, you and your friends are sure to have a great time. Not only is this a reason to enjoy wine, but the conversation and time together will surely brighten up your “powered off” Earth Day gathering. And once the party is over, be sure to recycle your wine corks and bottles.
